LENGTHSMAN SCHEME

The Lengthsman Scheme is a jointly funded venture involving the Parish Council and Lancashire County Council which provides for the services of a contractor who undertakes small scale works within the Parish with a view to enhancing existing Principle Authority services in order to keep the area clean, tidy and a pleasant area for residents to live and enjoy local amenities.

He also manages the grass cutting for the Dodney Drive 'Greens' and some verges which are owned by the Parish Council

Peter Greenwood is the lengthsman for this Parish and he currently has a service contract for the equivalent of 19 hours per week which is managed on a flexible basis throughout the year.

Present undertakings include:
Low level maintenance of public open spaces
Grass cutting in the Dodney Drive areas
Identification & tidying of grot spots in the Parish
Additional litter picking.
Maintenance of local public rights of way
Maintenance of Hanging Baskets for Lea Town 
Delivery to each household of the quarterly Parish Newsletter 
Erection of speed indicator device
Bulb planting  on the Western Approach to the Parish
